CNN —Tiger Woods has withdrawn from The Genesis Invitational in the second round due to illness, the PGA Tour announced Friday. The 15-time major champion was 1-over through six holes before exiting the course on a golf cart during Friday’s second round and 2-over par for the whole tournament. He returned to the tournament scene for The Genesis Invitational, an event he hosts in Southern California. Spieth was within three shots of the lead at the turn in the second round at Riviera until he dropped three shots as Patrick Cantlay, playing in his group, began to pull away. Spieth made bogey on the 18th hole for a 73, leaving him 10 shots behind. Spieth had missed the green to the left, chipped to about 4 feet and lipped out. That leaves 51 players in the field for the weekend at Riviera.

However, Woods admitted afterwards that he was dealing with back spasms for the final three holes of his round, something which helped to contribute to the shank on the 18th hole. Woods hits from a bunker on the 10th hole during the first round of the Genesis Invitational. He got paid significantly more when Goldman renewed his sponsorship in a one year extension earlier in 2023, this person said. The latest settlements in California related to cases due to go to trial in November, with a further set scheduled to begin in Delaware courts in January, GSK said. The company still faces about 79,000 cases related to Zantac in the United States, with 73,000 of them in Delaware. Late in June, the company agreed to settle a similar lawsuit with California resident James Goetz who alleged he developed bladder cancer after taking Zantac. The settlement could be read that GSK sees a risk that these Zantac cases are strong enough that the company might lose at trial, J.P Morgan added.

CNN —Rory McIlroy has said that two heated rows with American caddies left him wanting to “make it hurt” for Team USA, as Europe channeled rage into results to regain the Ryder Cup on Sunday. After confronting LaCava on the green, hostilities reignited in the course’s car park as the 34-year-old got into an angry exchange with another Team USA caddie, Jim “Bones” Mackay.
